3. Mobile Application
Our mobile application requests the following device permissions, each requiring your explicit consent: • Location (foreground and background) – to display and manage apiary locations on the map and support background location updates. • Microphone – to record audio notes during hive inspections. • Camera – to scan QR codes when adding Fluxabee products. • Face ID / biometric authentication – to securely unlock the application. The app stores authentication tokens and session data securely using encrypted on-device storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). Cached data such as hive information and apiary details are stored locally on your device to enable offline access and faster loading. Background processes periodically sync widget data (approximately every 2 hours) when enabled.
4. IoT Devices and Sensor Data
Fluxabee hive scales and sensors transmit data to our servers via cellular (GSM) connectivity. This data includes: hive weight (kg), ambient temperature, minimum and maximum temperature readings, battery level, and measurement timestamps. Devices authenticate using unique hardware identifiers (IMEI and ICCID). Sensor data is associated with your apiary account and used to provide real-time monitoring, historical charts, and nectar flow estimates. This data is stored in our time-series database and retained according to your subscription plan.
5. Audio Recordings and AI Processing
When you record audio notes during hive inspections, these recordings are uploaded to our servers and processed using automated speech recognition technology (OpenAI Whisper) to generate text transcriptions. The transcriptions may be further analyzed to extract structured inspection data. Audio recordings and their transcriptions are stored on our servers and associated with your apiary account. You can view and delete individual recordings at any time through the application.
6. How We Use Your Data
We process your personal data to: fulfill orders and manage your account; provide beekeeping management services through our mobile application; process IoT sensor data and deliver real-time hive monitoring; transcribe and analyze audio inspection notes; manage your subscriptions and in-app purchases; provide customer support; send order confirmations and shipping updates; comply with legal obligations; improve our products and services (anonymized analytics only).
